We are asking you to pray for a new movement of the Spirit of God within His Church, and within our world, as we follow His leading to plant a new church in the Inland Empire. This church will be unlike any other church you have seen before, though you will be able to recognize it as a Church in:
Many church traditions, though powerful and precious, become objects of worship, especially when the tradition becomes the object of our worship more than the purpose of our worship, which is to direct our attention to the only One worthy of worship – Jesus Christ, the Son of God!
In fact, Mark chapter 2 offers us several examples of Jesus responding to the pharisees, who often placed a higher value on their traditions in worship instead of helping people focus their attention on the worship of God.
At the conclusion of this passage we come across these final Q&A verses, in which Jesus explains the purpose of setting a day aside for worship and the overriding legal requirement within it…
“The Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?’
Then he said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’” (Mark 2:24, 27-28)
Our focus, from the start, will be to bring new life into The Church by following the call of Jesus Christ, living for the glory of God the Father, walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, and serving together as one through His Body – The Church!
We will accomplish this in many new and unique ways, with respect for the old, we will press on towards the upward call of Christ Jesus. For it was Jesus who, when speaking to the religious people of the day regarding their traditions, said the following…
“No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, new wine must be poured into new wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine wants the new, for they say, ‘The old is better.’” (Luke 5:36-39)
So Church, get ready for SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!
