“GENERATIONS” is a gathering of women who come together for the sole purpose of praying for our children and grandchildren. Without judgement, we share our hearts, whether it be praises or panics. As we do, we realize we are not alone. A variety of concerns are prayed for, but our highest goal in prayer is for our children and grandchildren to know and love Jesus. As each one navigates his or her own spiritual journey, we turn to Psalm 71:18…

Being a mother is a joyous but sometimes overwhelming task. We are often told how to “mother” in a television show, a best seller, a magazine article, even the Complete idiots Guide to Motherhood. But condensing motherhood into a half hour television show… 300 pages in a book… half a page in a magazine… or a handful of pages in a guidebook, falls far short as we each try to help our children navigate through life.
In the early years it is easy to be the one that is in control… good or bad. Where they go, when they eat, when they are put to bed. But even then, the world around them is being formed and they are becoming their own person. As siblings begin to arrive, growing up seemingly in the same world, each one can take a different path, sometimes becoming as different as night and day.
We have all heard Proverbs 22:6: Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it. But what happens when we have tried to do exactly that and we find that our child is sexually active, drawn to pornography, attracted to a homosexual lifestyle, using drugs… any number of life choices that do not reflect an obedient life in Jesus Christ. We often blame ourselves with the “what ifs”. This Proverb does not assure us that our children are always going to make the right choices, but we have all had those moments when our children have said something that makes us realize “oh…they have been listening”.
“Prayer is the link between God’s inexhaustible resources and people’s needs…God is the source of power, but we are the instrument He uses to link the two together.” -Charles Stanley
